   The new blog.

This new blog wants to be the virtual place where to share the beauty of Lake Garda, and hopes to be the answer to the requests for a better interaction coming from the visitors of this site. Lake-Garda.Net - which was born in 2003 - is dedicated to the natural beauty of the Lake of Garda. I am aware that this site has been only occasionally updated so far, and the visitors would probably expect for more; but it is just the amateurial site of someone who loves the Lake of Garda (and is lucky enough to visit it often), not the site of a tourist board / office. There will not be daily posts on this blog, but I will do my best to update it as often as possible with useful and fun info. I will also try to answer your questions - if I am able to - underlining again that I am not a tourist office!

   Il nuovo blog.

Questo blog vuole essere uno spazio virtuale dove condividere la bellezza del Lago di Garda, e spera di poter essere la risposta alle richieste di maggiore interazione provenienti dai visitatori di questo sito. Lake-Garda.Net - nato nel 2003 - è dedicato alle bellezze naturali del Lago di Garda. Sono consapevole che finora il sito è stato aggiornato solo occasionalmente, e che molti visitatori si aspettano di più; ma va considerato che è solo il sito amatoriale di una persona che ama il Lago di Garda (ed ha la fortuna di visitarlo spesso), non il sito di un ufficio per il turismo o simile. Non ci saranno post giornalieri su questo blog, ma farò il possibile per aggiornarlo con informazioni utili e divertenti appena ne avrò il tempo. Cercherò anche di rispondere alle vostre domande, se sarò in grado di farlo, sottolineando però di nuovo che non sono un ufficio per il turismo!

   Manerba Photobook.

I have just uploaded on my site a new photobook: this time it shows some sights from the rock of Manerba, on the west side of Lake Garda. In the pictures you can see the shore of Pisenze, some of the small islands in front of the rock, including Isola dei Conigli (Rabbits' island), and some panoramic views over the eastern coast of the Lake of Garda. Apart from breathtaking sightseeing, the rock of Manerba and its "natural park" is great for a long walk in the nature, far from the traffic and overcrowded shores.

Ho appena caricato sul mio sito un nuovo fotoalbum dedicato, questa volta, alla stupenda Rocca di Manerba, sulla sponda ovest del Lago di Garda. Nelle foto si possono vedere la spiaggia di Pisenze, le piccole isole di fronte alla Rocca, fra le quali l'Isola dei Conigli, e il panorama della costa orientale del Lago di Garda. Oltre agli stupendi panorami dall'alto, la Rocca di Manerba, lungo i sentieri che attraversano il Parco Naturale, è l'ideale per una lunga passeggiata nella natura, lontano dal traffico e dalle spiagge affollate.

   How to get to Manerba.

Most of you will probably reach Lake Garda by car, from the motorway A4. The right exit is Desenzano del Garda. From Desenzano follow the indications for Salò. Manerba is just after the village of Moniga del Garda, before Salò. When you are in the village of Manerba, you can go directly to the Rocca: you can go by car along a tiny road and up a hill, until you find a free car park. From there, you will go on on foot. After the Rocca, you can visit the natural park, which is not so easy to reach by car, though: still from the village of Manerba, follow the indications for Parco Naturale (natural park), but do not expect to find an official entrance with a gate and a big writing which says "PARCO NATURALE". The park is large area bordering the lake, not fenched, accessible from several footpaths. Few indications inside the park, so be careful not to get lost inside, even if it is not so so large and it's easy enough to orient oneself.

   Come raggiungere Manerba.

Immagino che la maggior parte di voi arriverà al Lago di Garda in macchina, dall'autostrada A4. L'uscita è Desenzano del Garda. Da Desenzano seguite le indicazioni per Salò. Manerba si trova subito dopo il paese di Moniga del Garda, prima di Salò. Quando siete nel paese di Manerba, potete andare direttamente alla Rocca: in macchina, dovrete percorrere una strada stretta su per una collina, finchè troverete un parcheggio gratuito. Da quel momento dovrete salire a piedi. Dopo aver visitato la Rocca, potete andare al Parco Naturale, che tuttavia non è così facile da raggiungere in macchina: sempre dal centro di Manerba, seguite inizialmente le indicazioni per il Parco Naturale, ma non aspettatevi di trovare un ingresso ufficiale e una grande scritta "PARCO NATURALE". Il parco è una vasta area verde che costeggia il lago, non recintata, accessibile da vari sentieri nel bosco. Aspettatevi poche indicazioni all'interno, quindi fate attenzione a non perdervi, anche se l'area non è poi così vasta ed è relativamente facile orientarsi rispetto al lago.

   Where to park.

Parking near the strands of Lake Garda is often hard (due to the lack of parking lots) and expensive. If you decide to visit the natural park of the Rocca, you will not have many options about where to leave your car. The first option is parking in the small parking lot of Porto Dusano: but in the summer you will have to pay. From the parking lot of Porto Dusano, you will have to go back along the road and take the footpath on your right, in the woods. Going always straight through the park, you will border the Lake and enjoy an enchanting view from the high. If you do not want to pay just to leave your car in an unattended parking lot, you will have to go straight some hundred metres after the harbour and you will find a couple of areas where you can leave your car, on the hill. Unfortunately, in this case you will have to go back on foot to Porto Dusano to enter the park.

   Dove parcheggiare.

Parcheggiare vicino alle spiagge del Lago di Garda è spesso difficile (per la scarsità di posti auto) e costoso. Se deciderete di visitare il parco della Rocca, vi renderete conto di non avere molte opzioni di parcheggio. La prima opzione è parcheggiare nel piccolo parcheggio del Porticciolo di Dusano: d'estate è pagamento. Dal parcheggio di Porto Dusano, dovrete risalire la strada e, arrivati alla curva, prendere il sentiero sulla destra, nel bosco. Procedendo sempre dritto, costeggerete il lago e vi godrete una stupenda vista dall'alto. Se non avete intenzione di pagare per lasciare la macchina in un parcheggio incustodito, dovrete procedere qualche centinaio di metri dopo il porticciolo, finché troverete sulla destra un paio di aree libere, sulla collina. Purtroppo, in questo caso, dovrete anche tornare a piedi al Porto di Dusano, prima di entrare nel parco.

   Garda Trentino Photobook.  

You can view on my site a new photobook which shows some pictures taken on a beach of the North-East side of Lake Garda, in the region of Trentino: Garda Trentino. The strand is very small and not easy to be found, but, as you can see, it will be worth a visit. I will write more about this on a future post.

E' disponibile sul sito un nuovo album fotografico dedicato ad una spiaggia dell'area nord-orientale del Lago di Garda, in Trentino: Garda Trentino. La spiaggia è molto piccola e per nulla facile da individuare, ma dalle foto potete rendervi conto che vale la pena di visitarla. Aggiungerò più informazioni su questa località in un successivo post.

   Easter holidays.  

The holiday season at the Lake of Garda has officially started, thanks to a very nice weather and a massive arrival of tourists, especially from Germany and The Netherlands, for the Easter holidays. The temperatures recorded in this period are above the average and are perfect to enjoy the lake with long walks, rides with bicycles, sightseeing, and also sunbathing. I even saw some brave foreigners having a quick swim, but it is definetely too early for that! The temperature of the lake usually starts to be pleasant for a swim in May, or even in June. The lake's water level is low, also due to the period of dry weather.

   Vacanze Pasquali.  

La stagione turistica del Lago di Garda è ufficialmente iniziata, grazie ad un clima particolarmente gradevole e al massiccio arrivo di turisti stranieri, specialmente da Germania e Olanda, per le festività di Pasqua. Le temperature di questi giorni sono superiori alla media e risultano ideali per godersi lunghe camminate, passeggiate in bicicletta, ed anche per prendere il sole. Ho anche visto qualche turista coraggioso avventurarsi in una rapida nuotata nel lago, ma è decisamente troppo presto per questo! La temperatura del lago normalmente inizia ad essere gradevole per fare il bagno nel mese di maggio, o addirittura in giugno. Il livello dell'acqua è basso, anche a causa delle scarse precipitazioni di questo periodo.
